Horseback
riding lessons are offered to all ages and abilities. You may ride
just for fun and exercise, or to improve your skills and compete.
Riding
lessons last one hour, and include learning to groom and saddle
the horse, and care for the horse after the ride. Riding time is
about 30 minutes. As the rider advances, the ride is more intensive.
Lessons
are English riding. I prefer to teach English because it is very
easy to switch from English to Western, but very difficult the other
way around. Once you learn English riding, you can go on a Western
trail ride any time with no trouble. In the beginning stages, English
riding is more challenging and offers more skills to learn and keep
the student interested.
All
riders begin with private lessons. It usually takes about 10 private
lessons to be ready to ride in a group, except for very young riders
who may need to stay in privates longer. Some students will not
need 10 lessons to be ready for the group.
Students
will have the opportunity to compete at local horse shows on my
lesson horses if they so desire. Competition is handled in a very
positive way, and is a great way to learn to work hard, perform
in front of a crowd, handle nervousness, set goals and persevere
through disappointments.
Horse
riding camps are also offered. Camps include 2 riding lessons per
day, plus other activities including extra time working with the
horses; crafts; and other fun stuff.
When
the time comes, I am equipped to help you find the horse that will
suit your personal needs, whether you ride for pleasure and exercise,
or you'd like to try your hand at showing at the highest level.
We show at local, regional, and national shows. I love to help kids
of all ages pursue their dreams!
