*Winter Tournaments*
The
Central States Winter Tournaments are beginner-level horse
shows held at the Tom Bass Arena at the American Royal Complex in
Kansas City, MO. Shows start at 10:00 a.m. and run until about 4:00
or 5:00 p.m.
If
you want to show, you will show one of the lesson horses that you
ride in your lessons. You will show in two events and earn a ribbon
in each event (events are limited to 6 competitors and 6 ribbons
are awarded). Once you sign up to show, you will practice the required
skills on the horse you will be showing.
In
order to show you will need riding pants (dark colored Kentucky
jodhpurs); ankle-high jodhpur boots; a dress shirt, tie, and vest;
and leather riding gloves. These items are available at Horse Hardware
behind the QT gas station at 69 highway and 151st street in Overland
Park, or online at National
Bridle Shop (Annalisa can help)
Cost
to show at the Winter Tournaments is $175 per show for the 2009-2010
season. This cost includes shipping the horse; renting a stall;
entry fees; grooming and coaching costs; use of tack and equipment;
etc. There are no other costs beyond the $175 fee.

*Horse Camp*
Horse
Camps are really fun. They generally run from 10:00-3:00, and include
riding lessons, plus lots of other fun stuff. We have lots of time
to groom the horses without rushing, and time to practice saddling
and bridling. We also play games, outside if the weather is nice,
water games if it is hot, and crafts and games indoors too.
You
will want to bring lunch, drinks and snacks. If it is cold, bring
warm clothes. If it is hot, bring swimsuits, shorts and flip flops
for the water games.
Bring
all your questions, too. Anything you want to learn about? Anything
you want to spend extra time on? Just let us know. We can learn
about breeds of horses, colors of horses, styles of riding, horse
care, lots of cool stuff. And if you want to work on, say, bridling,
we can do that. You should come to horse camp!

the FUN!!!
